Artisian Basics 101 This is just very basic information on how the Artisians work in EQII. I highly recommend a visit to EQ2 Traders Corner. Brought to you by no other than the same people who brought up EQTraders.com. This time however, Niami Denmother's husband Ngreth will be watching over things. Just as the original site was "the" home for anything related to tradeskilling in EQLive, this is sure to be "the" home for artisian information in EQII. Player made items will play a very important role in EQII. Much more so than the original Ever Quest. Players will make everything from weapons, armor, food, drink, potions, spells etc. Artisian levels are completly seperate from exp level. You could, if you wanted, have a character that has never lifted their weapon in battle. Let me say now that it's important that you complete the tradeskill quest on the Isle of Refuge. It will get you to level 3 easily. As I explain more how the system works you will understand why having this level is important. Until you reach Artisian level 10, you may make any item from any recipe book that you can scribe. Books are sold on a vendor in each tradeskill zone. Now looking at the names of the book you can get a pretty good idea of what will be in it. You can also use the examine command to see a listing of the recipes inside. Each of the books will be titled with a Volume number. That number coincides with the level required to scribe the recipes. For example: If I am a level 5 Artisian, I can't scribe a Volume 6 book until I have leveled up my skills. You will be limited to general recipes until you get to level 10. In order to "ding" to 10 you must decide what type of artisian you would like to be. Most of the items needed to do the combines can be obtained in 3 ways. Collected yourself, bought through other players, or through the vendors themselves. While buying your basic components through the vendor is certainly faster and you will be limited on the highest quality you can obtain, it will also cost you quite a bit of copper. You're better off to make the ingredients yourself and get your skills up making basic recipe components.
Now the big moment ... what type of Artisian will you be? Here is a list of what's currently available:
